Case study : Composites in construction - next generation, low carbon, engineered solutions for architects

Showcasing of lightweight balconies with an ergonomic, curvilinear design for nine residential towers at Oakridge, Vancouver.
Each balcony was manufactured offsite by BFG as 12 complex curved panels in ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) reinforced with PVA microfibres, using custom glass FRP closed moulds. Also produced by BFG was the impressive Carbon House 20-metre carbon fibre cantilever roof structure with no steel support.
