SYENSQO: The Challenges of Full Rate Production for AAM

A JEC World 2024 Composites Exchange by SYENSQO

Composite materials are being successfully adopted for certification and Low Initial Rate Production (LRIP) of eVTOL aircraft. However as demand grows, increased build rates will highlight the challenges associated with high-rate composite production. Today’s composite manufacturing technologies will be presented and contrasted against future market needs. The challenges of scaling to support future eVTOL production demands will be considered, with specific focus on material and technology selection for high-rate large primary structure, battery enclosures and rotor blades.
