Collaboration of Asahi Kasei and Fraunhofer IGCV for Contribution to Sustainable Society by Using Recycled Carbon Fibers

Asahi Kasei presents how they invented a new recycled polymer thansk to collaborating with Fraunhofer IGCV.

Asahi Kasei have embarked on the development of new products to expand the engineering plastics portfolio. In this session, we introduce the overview of our newly developed composites and their application examples first, then present the recycling initiatives for resource circulation with Fraunhofer IGCV. Based on the synergy effect of Fraunhofer’s cutting edge processing technology and Asahi Kasei’s specific polymer technology, a new nonwoven prepreg using recycled carbon fiber with polyamide was successfully invented.
