Challenges on Materials for Hydrogen in Land Mobility

Cetim show how composite materials will have a major role in this hydrogen industry, with some concrete examples during the conference.

The hydrogen industry has been growing rapidly since the beginning of the 2020’s, with the aim of making a significant contribution to the decarbonization of the environment. In particular, mobility is a major element of this industrial transformation. The democratization of technologies inevitably requires the qualification of new materials. It is therefore necessary to validate the compatibility of materials (metallic and organic) with hydrogen, both in terms of their mechanical and sealing aspects.
The hydrogen industry can be divided into three macro stages: production, logistics and use. At each of these three stages, we will see the major technological challenges identified as of today. Also, we will speak about the end of life of all the components of the hydrogen value chain which must enter into a recycling process. We will see how Composite materials will have a major role in this hydrogen industry, with some concrete examples during the conference.
